Your day in Monteverde begins high up among the treetops of the cloud forest, together with your knowledgeable guide who will accompany you throughout the entire day. During a guided hike, you cross deep valleys on sturdy hanging bridges and experience the rainforest from a completely new perspective — both from the forest floor and from above. This is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world, home to more than 2,500 different plant and tree species. Your guide shares fascinating insights about the surrounding nature, and with a bit of luck, you may spot the legendary quetzal — often called the world’s most beautiful bird — which lives in only a few places on Earth, with Monteverde being one of the most important.
After this breathtaking nature experience, it’s time for the day’s main adrenaline rush: ziplining, or canopy as it’s known here. Securely harnessed in professional climbing equipment, you glide between platforms high above the ground, surrounded by the towering rainforest canopy. This is one of Costa Rica’s longest and most impressive canopy tours, featuring 15 zip lines and 18 platforms. A fast-paced, laughter-filled, and unforgettable experience suitable for both young and old. For those who prefer a calmer pace, it is also possible to opt out of the canopy portion.
Following the adventure, a well-deserved lunch is included — the perfect moment to relax, enjoy a good meal, and share first impressions of the day before the next experience begins.
The next encounter is much calmer, yet just as memorable. In close collaboration with the Caribbean Sloth Sanctuary, you’ll meet one of Costa Rica’s most iconic animals — the sloth. In a carefully designed environment that mirrors their natural habitat, around 20 sleepy, slow-moving, tree-dwelling sloths live peacefully. Here, time seems to slow down as you’re invited to quietly observe these unique and charming mammals.
The day concludes at Central America’s largest butterfly garden, covering an impressive 2,700 m². Depending on the season, you can see between 15 and 50 different butterfly species, along with their chrysalises and cocoons. One of the highlights is the iconic, shimmering Blue Morpho butterfly, gracefully fluttering through the tropical surroundings.
A complete and enriching full-day experience in Monteverde, including guide and lunch, where nature, adventure, and magical encounters come together to create memories that will last a lifetime.
