DAY 1
Today your private transportation will pick you up at the airport upon arrival and take you to Hotel Grano de Oro in San Jose. Here you are going to spend the night in class before the real adventure starts early tomorrow morning. Grano de Oro has a great restaurant where we can highly recommend you to enjoy dinner.
DAY 2
Transfer – You can choose to travel to Tortuguero and the Caribbean with the hotel’s shared minivan down the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and banana plantations. When you reach the harbor you take the hotel’s riverboat for the last hour through the rivers out to your lodge.
Or you can fly domestic flights from San Jose direct to Tortuguero Airport. In both you arrive at the Tortuga Lodge & Gardens in perfect time for lunch, and that’s why this is for the luxury explorer. In the afternoon you can relax at the pool or join a guided hike in the rainforest.
DAY 3
This day starts early with a riverboat tour where we can see all the amazing animals in Tortugueros National Park. You can see crocodiles, monkeys, turtles, sloths, iguanas, and many different species of birds. After lunch we take a trip into Tortugueros’ small town and visit the Caribbean beach where we can see turtles if we are lucky.
DAY 4
After breakfast, it’s time to leave Tortuguero and take the riverboat back to the mainland and then the minivan up to the stunning volcano Arenal and Hotel Nayara Gardens. You will have the afternoon to enjoy the hotel’s hot springs and the sunset view over the volcano.
DAY 5
Arenal has some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful rainforest, and today you will get to experience it when you slowly ride your horse up to La Fortuna waterfall. The horses are kind and calm and you do not need any previous riding experience. If you do not want to ride, you can go by car. After a short hike the beautiful waterfall appears in front of you and a swim in the lagoon’s fresh mountain water is a must!
DAY 6
The transfer from Arenal to Monteverde cloud forest gives you some incredible views when you travel by boat over Lake Arenal and then from your private transfer over the mountains to Monteverde Lodge & Gardens. In the afternoon you can enjoy the adorable town of Santa Elena. Don’t miss out to have a coffee in Cafe Beso. They have great coffee from the mountains around you.
DAY 7
Today is all about exploring the cloud forest and everything in it. You start the day with a guided hike on hanging bridges where you get to see how amazing this forest is. You can see a lot of animals like monkeys, hummingbirds, pezote, white-nosed coatimundi, and you have a good chance to see a quetzal. The quetzal is one of the most beautiful birds in the world. After lunch the real adventure starts and you start flying between the trees in a canopy zip-line of 12 cables. This is an adrenaline rush combined with stunning views of the cloud forest.
DAY 8
Your private transfer is picking you up at the hotel in Monteverde and takes you down the mountain to Manuel Antonio’s white sand beaches. You’re staying in the beautiful hotel, Parador Resort and Spa. Here you can relax in the spa, look out over the stunning sunset in the ocean while sipping a cold drink in the pool.
DAY 9
Today is all about adrenalin because you get to go river rafting. The professional guides take you on a wonderful experience down the river. You are going to have so much fun rafting, and the adrenalin rush together with the stunning natural surroundings makes this tour just superb.
DAY 10
You can just relax on the beach or at the hotel. If you still want to explore more you can take a hike into Manuel Antonio village or the national park located next to the beach. Here you can see a lot of animals, and inside the park you have another beautiful beach where you can relax and have a swim.
